Food waste

Twenty thousand meals is a real number.
Impact figures are easy to inflate. Here is exactly what ours counts and what it does not.
A meal, in our reporting, is one surplus item collected by a customer. Not a portion estimated by weight, not a projected equivalent, not an average across a category.
That definition is deliberately conservative. It excludes full-menu and happy hour orders entirely, even though some of those items would also have gone unsold, because we cannot prove which ones.
We would rather publish a smaller number we can defend line by line than a larger one built on assumptions.
The consequence is that our headline understates the effect. We think that is the right side to be wrong on for a figure investors and partners will quote.
